INTERVIEW WITH DONG HENGXUN, THE CO-AUTHOR OF A SHORT HISTORY OF AMERICAN LITERATURE Our Reporter (147) Dong Hengxun, senior fellow at the Institute of Foreign Literature, CASS, talks about the writing of the first Chinese book on the history of American literature. In two volumes his work places stress on modern and contemporary periods. He proposes that the study of American literature in China be conducted in three fields, namely, book reviewing, comprehensive research and studies in particular features of American literature.
